Enterpise and GM Remove Standard Side Curtain Air Bags
The Kuhlman Law Firm is currently investigating claims that Enterprise Rent-A-Car of St. Louis, Missouri, its subsidiaries and other fleet car buyers collaborated with General Motors to remove standard side curtain air bags from certain late model GM vehicles, including the 2006 through 2008 Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Cobalt and Buick LaCrosse. This appears to have been a conscious and deliberate decision made by Enterprise and other fleet buyers to reduce costs at the risk of serious injury and death to their customers. According to the Kansas City Star, Enterprise saved $175.00 per Chevrolet Impala by having GM remove the standard side air bags from the vehicles. After serving their useful life as rentals, these cars were routinely sold by Enterprise and other used car dealers - including through GM's Certified Used Car program - as having the standard side curtain airbags even though they had been removed and were never on the vehicle.
